Walleyed bought them off the kid for $5 apiece in the round.

Good job treating him fairly for this market. You may have the qualities necessary for a successful furbuyer? Guy's 12 years my senior and I was doing them for free. It was his idea to have me keep the $$$. He said he got a real education on fur putup and marketing. I'm giving lessons Boco & Dirt...I'll show you how to market those worthless Boreal Pine Marten !!! w

Nice work walleyed but it sounds like an anomaly, somebody had niche high-end market that need a few primo pelts. We'll see what reddies and grays in general do in other sales.

You did really well Walleyed. You had great fur with great put ups.
I’m not sure why, but prices at District PTA sales have been horrible this year. At the four or so sales in January, reds have been averaging less than $5, greys not much better. I would suspect NY fur to be better than Pa’s, but not that much better. You’re lucky to find a sale where you could average $8-9 on beaver. Coons averaging $4-5 , all put up prices. It will be interesting to see where coon, beaver, and muskrat averages end up at. There were a lot of reds and greys in the high teens that did not have complete legs, paws, and lower lips but still did very well. But poorly handled and flatter foxes of both species struggled to break the $10.00 mark. Beaver and coon were much better than I expected even with the smaller sizes. I'm sure It helped that there were 10 or more buyers present but every item was improved prices from prior earlier auctions. w

Agree, been watching the district sales in PA and the prices have been terrible, including the coyote prices. Everything I've seen elsewhere is quite a bit higher than in PA.

My work on the putup, Mac.
A friend of mine took these fox in my neighborhood but doesn't know how to put up fur,
so I volunteered to put them up and market them for him at the auction.
He's sick cause he gave away around 40 cayutes. walleyed doesn't like to do cayutes
Here's breakdown of the fox:
3 greys @ $39.00= $117.00 3 greys @ $31.00= $93.00 4 greys @ $31.00= $124.00 4 greys @ $25,00= $100.00 3 greys @ $30.00= $90.00
1 red @ $28.00=$28.00 1 red @ $37.00= $37.00 1 red @ $27.50= $27.50 1 red @ $23.00= $23.00 2 reds @ $30.00= $60.00 1 red @ $9.00 = $9.00
$708.50 total
Also sold 2 rats @ $3.00 each 1 coon @ $9,50 1 coon @ $12.50 1 Male Fisher @ $39.00
and 3,25 Lbs of Castor at $80.00 a pound.
w Those are pretty good prices on the reds. We have been seeing averages as low as $4.00-$5.00 at the PTA district sales. I'm surprised trappers let them go for that amount but I guess if you have no way to store them or no alternative buyers or markets...
Eh...wot?

Great prices and a great job on the put up walleyed.
Put up can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. A great job on the put will make sure that silk purse is a silk purse when taken off the stretcher.

Yea THAT WAS GREAT ! You know why they brought so much. First you stated they had 10 buyers. PLUS I BET THEY DIDN'T have none of those BACK ROOM PT sales..... I have always said that would ruin the fur market and I believe it bit NAFA in the back side . Why bid against each other on the floor when they can just scheme among them selves and buy it for a lower price after the auction closes.??? !!! Then they spin it for the kool aid drinkers that they did them a favor!!!! NO right the opposite. Even the kool aid drinkers or NAFA or FHA don't believe selling in the PT room is a good deal. It is not a bad deal if they sell for what similar fur bid on brought. It is not a terrible deal if they sell for minimum asking price plus 10%. Everybody wants bidding, however there is always buyer collusion at any auction, because they don't want to bid if they don't have to. How much bidding on fur is there at the furbuyers? It is just like a PT deal. P.S. The reason they brought more than the other fox was because he did extra work skinning out the paws and not cutting off the legs.
