Thanks for posting. That beaver average looks a lot better than what I’ve seen posted for other sales.

With all of the recent doom and gloom posted on this site about the fur market, fisher, eastern coyotes, ermine, grey fox and beaver, didn’t do too bad for a local auction.

Sometimes with the smaller sales it's hard to know what is being collected for the intl fur market and how much is local craft sales. If it is local craft sales what happens in one region probably has nothing to do with another.

Much better than any PA sale.

it tells me why I wanted to go there.

PA's regulations and paperwork may be something we need to get the PTA working on to bring us the options the other states have.

the fact groeny wont come acrossed the line is really telling.

That's some of my thoughts as well. A sale within a few hours of tens of millions of people, not all that aren't anti extractive use for wildlife, probably as some specialized end-use customers. Perhaps that 80+ inch beav is meant to be for one of those willow branch wall-hangers and with guys already having an order for, "the biggest one possible" and what the customer pays in the end isn't really an issue. I suspect there are regional buyers who have direct links to big metro furriers who are not making garments for the Chinese market but for a selected markets in other places. Walleyed skinned out those grays legs and feet for what, some sort of taxidermy or crafters market? Once I had a colleague at work, who knew that I sold things on ebay, approach me in selling a real Persian rug that her dad had brought back from Iran that he had gotten when he was an Air Force attache there at the U.S. embassy in the 1950s. I politely told her no, not in my wheelhouse or logistical capaability. But I bet there are people who can be found in the Northeast metros that specialize in selling Persian rugs, among other things. Large populations in well-connected big cities allows very interesting specialization of skills. Let's see if these prices hold up in other sales and the FHA auction...

I sold my beaver at that auction, medium-super blanket put up for the fur market no nose or whiskers, I averaged $21 and change for the pelts, the castor's added about $6 per pelt $27 and change.had one cat skun complete $91.

Some of the buyers present at Saturday's auction in Herkimer DO have direct connections

with New York City fur garment industry and the pelts purchased and sold there

will never see China.

Some of the other buyers have a direct relationship with Russian, Greek, and Italian buyers

and other European fur manufacturers, and are not associated

with International wild fur auctions.

The market for specially handled long haired wild fur in the Eastern United States

is substantial and has been for a long time.

I skin all long haired wild fur complete with legs. paws, and lower lips because

I can realize the best price possible for my work.

I have been doing it since around 2015 when the prices for long haired fur

(other than cayutes) started to take a dive.

I am sure I'll be able to successfully market the same specially handled pelts

throughout this coming spring at our New York State in-country wild fur auctions.

Perhaps South Dakota trappers need to develop some innovative sales

marketing strategies to realize the greatest sale price potential

for the hard work they put into their wild fur.
