Has any one modified a 330 to widen them to 16" or larger? I would think one could cut it in the center and weld extensions to widen it out without too much trouble. Not that I currently need one but wouldn't mind adding one to my arsenal.

There are kits to make them 660's, they are 20 to 22 inches wide. You cuth the trap and slide the wires into tubes, weld them and change the trigger.

Do as you were thinking. Spit one in the middle and use some round stock, the good stuff, the same thickness as the trap and cut it too the length you will need to make the trap the width you want. Simple it is. I have several in different widths all out of one bar of the same round stock. Ted

Thanks Ted, that's what I was thinking but didn't want to destroy a good trap in trying.

I found some round stock in my shop and decided to play around a bit with a Duke. It's only 16" but think it'll work. May do a few of my Belisles like you did 330. Was thinking about widening a Duke or two like yours. Figured it would add to gripping power without adding much weight and slowing it down as well. Do you have to use a longer dog? Do you need to change springs to make up for that extra weight gained with the extra bar? So far I haven't had to change anything but then I just finished it this afternoon and haven't had a chance to really give it a work out. Seems to work alright so far.....
