Was out to the place where I set up the otter traps on pond. Road out with land owner today because he was going out. He was going because was Amish guy coming to talk about cutting some locust trees off his land. When we got there first thing he did was start a fire in wood stove in his hunt cabin. Cabin has no electricity only gas lights and some 12v lighting run off a solar charged deep cycle battery. What was interesting is two little fans he has on top his wood stove. I've never seen them any where before and they were called Ecofan. When stove warms heat creates little electrical charge that then turns fan.. Pretty neat way to move the warm air around. When the Amish guy showed up we were standing there BSing having coffee. He ask the Amish guy had he ever seen one them kinda fans. He said yes he actually had one too his kids had bought him one as a gift. With so many t-man people burning wood in all kinda different ways. I'm wondering what experience good or bad guys here have, if any with these little fans. I looked them up lots of different models and of course brands on Amazon. Figure might be a nice gift for my sister at her cottage. Their stove is LP but looks just like the wood stove the fans were set on top of.
And the traps have been soaking now since last Friday. No sign the otters have returned to the area. So of course no catches or known misses. Going to just let them soak.

I have two. one that sits on top of the wood stove, and one that mounts with a draw band around the stove pipe. The upper stove pipe one comes one first and stays on the longest.
Water is good for two things, Floating Ships and making Beer.

I got one at my camp and it works great. We are thinking about getting a second one.

Bought one for my parents and it worked well .... The hotter the fire the faster it spins .... Eventually it quit working must have overheated .... Had mine a few years, I did have to replace the motor once, fairly inexpensive.

Seen them around, but at over $100 a pop, I'll pass.

I have two. Yes they spin but you can't feel any air moving at more than 16 inches away. Novelty at best IMO I thought there was a fairly long thread on here a while back and remember you being critical of them. I didn't purchase any based on your review. I'll have to see if I can find that thread.

I put mine on the back corner of my wood stove and have it blowing across the top of my wood stove so it blows the hottest air and the fan won’t be over heating and damage it. It definitely moves the air across my camp. I put my digital thermometer 22’ away and checked the temperature rise several times using the fan and without it when first starting the wood stove and camp temperature was from 20-26 degrees. With the fan the temperature rise was starting a half hour faster and increased faster there after. I’m convinced it works. Mine I found on the internet 4 blade for around $40 dollars and the directions said don’t put it on the hottest spot on the stove or will cause motor failure. My camp is 26x44 with a loft area 12x22 and cathedral ceiling on half 22x26 living/dining area. My wood stove is in the center of the camp and is a Vermont castings Defiant.

The fella where I seen the fans said they make one that is a ceiling fan too. I didn't look that up, but I see where that could be real handy too.. My fathers old cottage could have used a ceiling fan. He heated that with and old Super Flame oil stove. Be like 100 degrees up in the little loft us kids slept in..and you could still see your breath in back bedroom..
