How bad is the rust? People will pay more a piece of unreliable junk that's not rusty than they will for something like you have if its rusty.

I had a used truck for sale a couple years ago.It sat outside in my small town with a 4 sale sign on it for about a month with no takers.
I went and got it detailed in a bigger town, parked it in the lot of a restaurant while having lunch.Seen a guy checking it out.Went to talk to him.gave him my number,he bought it cash for 1500 more than I originally wanted for it.

Felt the same way. Have a 96 F-150 i put up for sale this last summer for 3000. I think worth it. One guy came up and offered me half! I asked him what his truck was worth then told him I'd give him half for his. He walked away. Still driving the truck!

I would agree. I have one in a f150, it can barely get out of it's own way.

DRF that's a good reply! I'll have to remember that next time I get low-balled.

People probably shying away due to rebuilt motor and lots of new parts. I never look at a vehicle that’s listed that way, it tells me that you have a truck that has a lot of problems albeit you’ve fixed some of them

Two years ago I sold a 1999 with 7.3 powerstroke crew cab for $5200 it had 325k on the original motor.

If I saw your truck at that price I would be wondering what's wrong with it.

flat bed and standard cab?
That could be one reason.
The majority of pickups sold are not "work" trucks anymore.
They are the new "mommy's stationwagon".

If you've had it listed for 5 months and it hasn't sold, then yes, you priced it too high for whoever reads whereever you have it listed. Try listing it in more places.

Where/how do you have it advertised? I have all but given up on Craigslist, seems the only calls I get there are spam. I've sold quite a few things on Favebook marketplace lately. It helps if you're a part of different groups in your area and can post to multiple places.
