Beav, I got this theory, if you were wrong about all groeny's scams that you expose on here all these years, I believe he would not have taken a selfie with you with a big smile on his face. I could be wrong!

I can see the side of the buyer. I can also see some buyer's possibly using the situation to their advantage. If a trapper sells their fur for less than what I think they should get, who cares. The corona virus is real. Storage costs are real. Uncertainty is a fact of life in trapping, and most trappers thrive on it in some way.
I'm in a position to store some of my fur and continuing speculating if I choose. I know not everyone can do that. Not everyone wants to. If you're one of those that takes what you can get, and happy to get anything, you won't be disappointed.
Whatever you sell, takes some pride in it, make sure the fur is clean and dry!

Gary G. told me GFW dresses the majority of their fur in Vietnam and Malaysia. That was at the IA trappers convention. That may have changed but I doubt it. I have a thousand coon and a bunch of December caught coyotes that I will not sell unless I get what is reasonable. I have another month of finish work so really not worried about it. I disagree with cheaper prices always in the later part of the season. March is usually a very good time to sell fur as that is when the end user is looking for it. I also agree with the Chinese New Year being a bust and it will cause problems. Retailers have all the garments they made this year still in their shops. If that money is tied up they do not need or can not afford to buy any more. This is not a manufactured crisis. I wish it was but it is not. LLL

The real issue is China not allowing "exotic" wildlife into the country. If they deem fur to be in that category it will be a big problem. LLL

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I send 100,000 coyote to be processed in vietnam or Malaysia the day fur gets there they become quarantined also....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...heard Philippines was today. all those countries are in close proximity. some people still have fur setting at nafa , different circumstances. but my point being once the fur leaves your hands you have no control over it! sending for to that part of the world right now is a very big risk!!!!!

I sold my early caught coyotes for $10 to $15 and just sold my prime ones for $8 to $16. I was expecting 20 for some. Buyer said he's hoping to make 3 bucks a piece at those prices. I'll start the first day of the season next year since primeness didn't seem to matter. I'm home tanning some for wall hangers to actually make some money. I've sold them for 80 bucks tanned. I can't see why your prices were so low, I averaged 30-41$ top of 80$

I think the problem lies In the dressed fur is not being processed since the labor force Is being sequestered. And the retailers are missing out by not being able to sell their product. I also heard that on Feb 10th that ban will be lifted and the labor force will be back to work.

"There has been much rumor and misinformation recently being communicated throughout the fur trade more specifically at the North American Trapper level. Our company is in constant contact with hundreds of manufactures, dressing companies, fashion designers and fur brokers on a weekly basis from all over the Globe. All the major freight forwarding companies in HK and Main Land China are receiving incoming fur shipments with NO ISSUES at all as of this release and they are expecting none. "
Press release today. FHA

Cliff tan everything and skip the buyer all together. Product can be easily sold on e bay, and you have the resources to do so... I already put back a lot to tan Salem. Keeping it all and tanning it isn't out of the question. I'd rather reduce my work-load though. I have several critters coming to be tanned from other trappers and hunters. I don't mind tanning some of my stuff, but I really like tanning others. I think it's exciting to get your critter back in a preserved state that you can hang and display. Guest in my home are always stopping to feel the different furs hanging or laying around, no matter how many times they come over.

I was going to sell to GFW but I can't drive my fur to Ohio or New York legally. They won't come here because of laws and our low quality fur. I only have 2 options if I don't send to the auction or take to an auction far away. I kept the better ones for home tanning.
