only did 3 and they are getting tanned so wanted to see if it really hurts or if we are wrong.3 meds. so no loss. I rub my muskrats with bear grease and rub my bears with coon grease, rub my coon with mink grease,,and rub my minks with chicken fat then rub my chickens with beaver oil,,rub my beavers with fox and coyote grease, then rub my fox and coyotes with muskrat grease. That way nothing gets wasted. me too

I do know this from personal experience, when a mouse gets to your finished muskrats before they are sold, crinkled or fat and shiny does not matter to the grader, they are damaged.

Do what ever trips your trigger. But when you catch a 2000 some rats In ND and they all grade Eastern when they normally grade Central you must be doing something right.

Another use for beaver weedoo is to rub it on your bald head to grow thicker hair-Try it Les.

Once in a lifetime situation where the evil empire (NAFA) was bilking the chinamen out of extra money by grading small, brown, coarse, thin leather prairie muskrat as prime eastern super selects. Western muskrats are junk. w

Beav, I like rats on wire and I don’t clothespin the skirt. I will pin the nose if it was not skinned properly. IMO it don’t matter how long you leave it on the stretcher. If it was properly fleshed and is in the proper environment (moderate temp and humidity) it will be fine. Being on a stretcher or a paper bag makes no difference. The reason I rarely post on t! Man is because most everyone on here is sure they know more than the next guy. Yes, I exaggerated a bit stating stretching a million rats but it’d definitely in the 6 figures. And I think you know (maybe not) but in the good ole days I was often called on by nafa to help grade. Mostly in raccoon but often in rats as well. When I get home in March I’ll show you some pictures of rats tha will have been hanging since January 14. I agree.I always left then on my stretchers till I needed the stretchers for more rats.
