Bingo! What about Saul talking to Samuels ghost. Samuel was dead and it happened on earth ?

Some Bible scholars believe it was a demon impersonating Samuel.

You do know that Saul was wanting to kill all the people who talked to the dead? Not demons but they talked to spirits of the dead.

I believe they were talking to demons.

Did God give Saul the answer he sought through the spirit of Samuel? Would the spirit of Samuel be considered a ghost by the modern interpretation of a ghost? Clearly from scripture the witch didn't summon him because she herself was surprised.

She was surprised because she had been tricked. She even states that . And if that isn't the definition of a ghost then or now what is?God giving him his answer or not has nothing to do with the question at hand.

Saul told the witch to summon Samuel, why did she not perceive that he was Saul before Samuel's appearance? The witch just saw the spirit as an old man, Saul was the one who perceived it to be Samuel. I think she was surprised because a spirit actually appeared.
My definition of a ghost is something already here, not summoned, which I believe are really angels or demons. I believe God Almighty is the only one with the power of resurrection, whether in spiritual or physical form, not a witch/soothsayer.

I wonder about Legion who was consumed by maybe as many as 2000 demons. He often was in the mountains and cemetery, I wonder why? Was he grieving for lost loved ones. Jesus expelled them as demons, it doesn't mention anything about the departed spirits of his loved ones. I would think since it was right there at cemetery if the ghost were important Jesus would have at least mentioned them.

Psalm 115:17 The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

Would I be right in thinking that verse is talking about all the dead? If in fact that is including all the dead, it doesn't say the ungodly will still be roaming the country side playing tricks on people, but rather go down in silence.

My first wife died in Oct of 86. We were both pretty young, and it was a sudden thing. She always loved butterflys, and had said that she would like to see the monarch butterfly migration sometime. The next evening a trapper and good friend stopped by to offer condolences, and while we were talking, butterflys started appearing. Every tree, bush and even the house was covered with monarch butterflys. Now I don't know how or why, but it had a profound effect on me, and having never seen it before, it is weird, but now, thirty some years later I still have them stop by my place. They had never done that before that evening in 86, but now after moving 35 miles away from where I lived then, they drop by to see me almost every fall. I can't explain any of it but it keeps happening.

Mr. Lee, I reckon we now know some angels have wings like Monarch butterflies.

I have had to many "episodes" to not believe in something that aint natural.
