The only country I listen to is from the 80s and 90s. I'm not much for modern country where songs start with the words: "Hey girl...wassup. You lookin' fine..."
With that said, however, there is a small group of modern country artists who are bringing country back to country roots:

Here's couple I like … great if you like to do a fast clog ….. when I was kid the only thing we could on the radio after 9:00 PM was WWVA radio station (No TV) … we called it Hillbilly Music

I liked country in the 80s. Was turned onto it by then girlfriend, a sweet Wisconsin farmgirl. Can't stand it now, at least what's played on the radio. My favorite is "Your the reason God made Oklahoma". Spent a little time near Lawton OK in 90s, and enjoyed it, probably because of that song. Good people and good food.
