Fur Harvesters Auction Decides to Hold
March 24-26, 2020 Auction in Toronto
Fur Harvesters Auction Inc. (FHA), after much deliberation, has decided to hold its opening auction of
the season in Toronto at 65 Skyway Avenue. FHA will host the auction starting on March 24th, on show
from March 20th, selling FHA goods consecutively, after which NAFA’s remaining fur inventory will be
auctioned. We believe this to be in the best interest of our trappers and the trade.
The Toronto facility will provide a very familiar and professional environment for the international buyers
attending our auction. We are confident that the decision to hold our March 2020 auction in Toronto is
the best choice for our shippers, buyers and our company to realize optimal results, by capitalizing on the
attendance drawn by our increased quantities at this season’s opening auction. FHA will also utilize NAFA’s
remote auction/online viewing system, which will allow all international buyers to view and buy in this
auction if they are not able to participate in person.
As we continue to closely monitor the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak in China, we are keenly aware that
some buyers may need to make last minute travel arrangements, and feel that this decision will also assist
them.
We thank the entire trade for the overwhelming confidence and support we have received over the years and
look forward to seeing you all in Toronto

I would say this is good news all around, for FHA shippers and those with remaining inventory at NAFA.

How much stuff does NAFA have left? If it's anything like a lot of auctions, the good stuff gets the big money outta the way, so the vultures can feast on the remains. The remaining NAFA goods have to move, regardless of price. We've already seen fire sales, but this could turn into an inferno very easily it seems.

"The primary goals of the proposed Auction are:
(a)
To liquidate approximately 186,000 skins owned by NAFA or whose value would be attributable to NAFA to settle unpaid buyer accounts via re-consignment. Such skins have been acquired over a number of years and are a mix of ranched mink and wild fur, although wild fur is by far the larger number of skins;"

Plus consigned fur.

186k hides (including my 3 remaining grinners!!!) isn't a lot of fur to move but given all the current market uncertainties such as in China, the NAFA-held will go cheap. Hopefully they clear the inventory and let everybody be done with it.

Not including your grinners. Your grinners are consigned fur. smile

Glad FHA fur will get sold before NAFA also glad that some of the surplus in the market will finally be gone.

So why would a buyer even blink at FHA offered goods when one could most likely get NAFA remains dirt cheap most likely? I understand the freshness aspect but good grief. I’m happy for the folks that have remaining fur at NAFA but I feel it will kill the FHA shippers on this go around.

It isn’t only the freshness aspect but it is the quality aspect. FHA offering will have all grades of goods, from the very best on down. The NAFA collection will have been picked over, as those goods have been through at least one sale.

I think it is a smart move all the way around.

The amount of NAFA fur doesn't seem that high when you consider the number of different species there could be. That it's been picked over, and stale, doesn't bode well for the trapper waiting on that last check. Any buyer lots there could take a hit too. At least it'll be over. The end of the NAFA rants is in sight...look out Groeny! Here they come! laugh

“Overwhelming confidence “? Really? Seriously? That is laughable. Confidence went out the window with the bad check and the past date we were told you hucksters promised. Some might buy the NAFA spin but not I. I doubt it is a good idea to give NAFA fur away and actually sell FHA fur at higher levels. Do not know who had this idea but I am glad I won’t have fur up there any more. LLL
