Y’all may have remembered me telling y’all about a landowner that wanted me to leave a few traps in front of some of his cameras where a coyote had crossed. I figured what the heck, I have a few to spare and I’d oblige him. I didn’t have a whole lot of confidence seeing how this was just happenstance I’m sure. These cameras are just watching his fields for deer activity.
One camera did have pics of a coyote more than once so I actually put 2 sets there. One was a scent post set and the other was a pipe dream set.
Well after almost 4 weeks, we connected, lol!!
I was finishing up this morning at another property and he called and said WE have a coyote and told me which field. I was excited especially since he should’ve had some good pics. But, his camera didn’t take any pics last night and he had rode down to check the camera and set when he saw the coyote. He’s another that gets excited about a catch. [Linked Image]

My youngest went with me and had to shoot it with his Red Ryder “rifle” to make sure it was dead.

He told me next time that he’ll use my rifle and kill it because his “rifle” only kills birds and squirrels, lol. I’m just happy he likes to tag along from time to time. I was really worried about the loudness of the .22 pistol I use and the act of actually killing something in front of him. This is going to be so fun starting over again, lol. His older brother (23) wants to get him a .22 already, lol.

Great activity for kids! Better than video games, actually teaches them some things about real life. Nice job!

That’s awesome. Take that young man every chance you get. I wouldn’t take anything for the memories I’ve made with my son.

Well, while getting ready for work this morning I get a text...got another! This time a grey in a different field on a scent post set that’s probably sat through about 6-8” of rain. Had a coyote come through about 2 weeks ago and peed on the wrong side...my bad for not blocking that side. Blocked it and this guy shows up. And yeah, it rained all yesterday and last night too. I had a set sit for almost a month before it connected with a coyote. My bobcat last week had been about 3 weeks. It was a small open spot in the woods with 2 deer trails crossin through.
