Yeah, that is true.

Good point, but it would be nice that the team that built a good engine and set the car up the best had a chance for their work to pay off.

I see your point though, and it makes sense

I find watching a race super boring, but I could pore over one of those cars for hours. Those cars are an engineering marvel. I do take the kids to the local dirt track once a year, they do fireworks around Independence day, and we like the noise and smells and crashes. No idea really what's going on in the races, but it's fun to go.

I prefer to see the best drivers racing. Not 40 cars running bumper to bumper and door to door hoping the guy next to or in front of you doesnt get the hiccups and cause a 40 car crash. I want to watch racing when if I am watching Nascar, if I want to see a demo derby I will go to the local fairgrounds.

Unless they just changed the rules, they don't run restrictor plates.
Took then away last season
I do miss the old days though
But with good friends and good food it makes for a great time.
And I'll pick #48 for the win with the #9 pushing him

There are tracks in the Northeast Nessy, have one right in Loudon, NH. Don’t know if that is close to you or not.
Watkins Glen, NY too...

Not all of us in the Mid Atlantic have ice on our ponds either, but I sure as heck get the attraction of ice fishing...
grin

You are correct - restrictor plates are gone. They now use tapered spacers instead, but the end result is the same restricted horsepower.

I believe the OP asked who was going to watch the race, not who wasn't.

I don’t really have a favorite driver or team right now, since it has been forever. I just hope everyone has a good competitive race today.

I really quit watching after Earnhardt died, and I’ll add that I think the restrictor plates and some of the other rule changes took something away from the race.

Lately I’ve really had the itch to watch, so here I am.

Started reading your post and see it's been 19 years and thought yep Earnhardt fan like me then read further and see it confirmed. I tried a couple times and it's just not there anymore.
