Opinions on this track, I thought otter but have been wrong many times before. My gloved thumb for size reference.

Thanks.

If that's otter then you have an awful large thumb. I agree with danny; Mink.

fox only has 4 toes and a bigger foot than a thumbprint

Most mink tracks are about the size of a dime and he has a glove on so I'm betting It's a otter. A otter has a pretty small foot for It's over all size. In most cases a thumb would easily cover any mink track and that track Is bigger then the thumb.

The best way to tell would be the distance between prints.

Thanks for the responses.

Beav, I was thinking the same, front foot of otter maybe.

I was certain it wasn't a fox, I am not that new to trapping and have caught my share of fox, just new to river and water trapping.

That track with the glove on is 1 & 1/2 times the width of my thumb so I didn't think mink. Water rose and ice moved in, covering the other tracks so that's all I could get.

Generally k9 tracks are symmetrical. Isn't a K9. Even a gloved thumb is small. Unless this otter was born in January, its a mink.

You are confusing mink with weasel. Most adult mink are larger then a quarter in my experience
