I know there are some on here and I'm curious. Going through lock box I came up with a bundle of $2 bills, knew I had them just had not seen them for years. Anyway, got them apparently in 97, initials and date on the package in ball point. It's a sealed package of 100, guy said he would go right to the reserve or something in NYC and get them. It's hard to read through the package, but I think the top one says 1996, assume they are all new and in serial number order?

Is something like this ever an interest to collectors? Not worried about selling, just curious if there is value because of the packaging. And before anybody says it, yes I know they are worth at least $200.00 and I could buy a pig castrator with them! grin grin grin

My wife walked into the local bank a few weeks ago and got a pack, new with consecutive serial numbers. Some older ones in new condition have some collectors value no so much for anything less than 50 years old.

Well, they're already half way there! Can you get them from a bank banded and sealed in the reserve wrapper?

Dad use to get paid in twos from the VA for his mileage. I feel sorry for the poor vets when the government runs out of two dollar bills and starts paying them in dollar coins.

I learned something tonight. I always thought the year on U.S. bills were the year they were printed. Reading about the $2 bill just now, it appears its the "series" year that includes certain variables, such as where the bills were printed. If Wikipedia is correct, most of the $2 bills have actually come out a year or so after the current bill "series." The most currently printed $2 bill is a 2017A that actually wasn't released to banks until late last year.

Interesting read,I thought they were dated when printed too, so these must be 95 series. I heard the stories about military pay with them.

My non-ferrous scrap guy has an "interesting" sense of humor. When possible, he pays with $2 bills and 50 cent pieces. I've had teenagers refuse my 50 cent pieces before, said their management doesn't allow them to take it as currency. No problem getting rid of the $2 bills whn I get paid in them.

When my two children lost their baby teeth, the Tooth Fairy always left them a $2 bill. Didn't need but about two of them. The kids gave me their bills to put in our safe because they were "rare". I still have them.

That's borderline mean! grin Have they already grown up and forgot about them, or is there still a possibility you may get called out someday?

Keith, I go to an auction on Fridays outside of upper Sandusky. They occasionally have coins and paper currency, its a consignment auction. Anyway, I've seen run of the mill two dollar bills bring 5-6 bucks? Not sure why.

I have two bundles of 100, 2 dollar bills, all consecutively numbered.
First bundle goes from C 04691401 A to C 04691500 A.
Second bundle goes from C 04512501 A to C 04512600 A

Since we are all friends, I would be willing to let these go for $400.00 a bundle. Contact me if interested.
