Many of the State democrats won by a whisker in November (VA elects the legislature on odd years unlike Federal elections), and being politicians, all they really care about is what? Getting re-elected, that's what. There are still reasonable Democrats who populate rural Virginia. Old School Democrats if you will. They cling to their guns and their bible, but since their daddy was a Democrat and his daddy was a Democrat, then by God, they will be Democrats. They will not vote for anyone who would openly threaten their Constitutional Rights.
