Virginia lawmakers reject Northam's assault-weapons ban, as Dems balk

It looks like the rally may have done some good grin

It didn't get out of committee. Of the 15 members 9 were Dems and 4 of those joined the 6 Republicans in rejecting the bill. Good news indeed.

Four Democrats voted with the Republicans. The governor vowed to keep fighting for the ban. However, a victory for now.

That is good news and proves that a vote alone isn't enough to shape policy.

That is good news but remember it is only a one year delay to "study" the issue. VA folks need to be very active. Never back off !

Correct, good news but they are just laying low hoping people forget or don't notice when they bring it back up.

Stay vigilant folks!

Another piece of good news is that Governor Blackface Northam will be replaced in 2021. Va governors can only serve a single 4 year term so we will be rid of him. If we can hold out till then maybe things will get better.

Just as I predicted a month ago. Many of the State democrats won by a whisker in November (VA elects the legislature on odd years unlike Federal elections), and being politicians, all they really care about is what?
Getting re-elected, that's what.
There are still reasonable Democrats who populate rural Virginia. Old School Democrats if you will. They cling to their guns and their bible, but since their daddy was a Democrat and his daddy was a Democrat, then by God, they will be Democrats. They will not vote for anyone who would openly threaten their Constitutional Rights.
