A friend of mine did it here. Last way longer than regular jury duty but had more regular hours. I think they met like once a month for 4 hours or more as needed but they didn't bounce things around like a yo-yo the way circuit court can. He liked it, got to tell the state people no once and while, their case was too weak or not right. I think he had it for 6 months.

I have served on a district grand jury several times and on a federal grand jury once over the years here in Texas.
On the district it was for six month periods and could not serve on consecutive juries. The district attorney would notify us when to go in to meet. I have served at least two times where we never met at all in a six month period. This is a very rural area and not heavily populated.
When I served on the federal grand jury I believe it was for 18 months and we met once or twice a month. I had to go 115 miles one way for this duty. We were paid by the day and paid for mileage both ways.
I have also served on one federal jury and several petit juries. I just always thought it was my duty as a citizen to serve.
Sit on your horse on top of a ridge, look out across the country and tell me there is no God.

6 months at a clip here.
You don’t decide anyone’s guilt just whether or not there is enough evidence to send it to trial. It also is a majority thing.
There will be those on there that “are the smartest folks in the room” and ask a bunch of questions trying to let everybody know it but for the most part, for me at least, if they have evidence to convict then go to trial if you don’t, come back when you do. lol
