Hey guys, I had a trap and castor shy beaver earlier this year. He was really edgy, so I left the area for a few weeks to calm down. He left the creek he was in and moved into a small pond down stream. I finally caught up to him today, and while I was setting traps, he popped up behind me and slapped his tail. I’m wondering if he’s on to me? Will he move again? Also, will a castor shy beaver still avoid castor mounds in the spring, when they are extremely territorial? Thanks

Its possible he could bounce. If you come back tomorrow and see a bunch of mounds pop up overnight, he definitely knows your there and is not happy about it. I do like to run a lot of food or curiosity lures that have ZERO castor when I think ive got some avoiding me.

I would suggest a total change in the castor you are using. Get some that you have not used there before from a completely different area.

If your seeing him, just shoot him, never mind fooling around with traps, unless there are more beavers there-then set heavy.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I was setting a crossover on a beaver dam one time. It was underneath some tree limbs and I was half laying down on the dam to set it. I heard a noise behind me and looked over my shoulder to see a large beaver climbing up over the dam. I could of kicked it with my foot.

Went back this morning and had him on the castor mound, with castor from one beaver from a different colony. Thanks for the advice!
