Redwing, I really take care of my boots, clean and oil them often as they aren't cheap and I like to take care of things. These are great work boots and upland boots as I do some bird hunting, love them.

Been wearing , and recommending thorogood's on here for probably twenty years. I really like their wide toe boots, but they seem to have quit producing them again. I wear steel toes even around the farm, no big deal and every so often they keep me from crushing my foot.
Also have worn us made Carolina's, which they are making again. Like the wide toe in them also. Some of their boots have an insole option, I don't remember what it is called, that are the most comfortable insoles I ever wore.
All my boots from either company have been lace up and steel toe.
Last pair of redwings i owned the soles would slide off of wet steel like they were on grease. Never saw a pair of boots like that, and never want to again. Slipped off of all kinds of equipment and time it was wet or dew or frost, down right dangerous hated them never buy another pair.

What is the warranty like on the red wings? I do building maintenance and i drive around the city and am in and out of my truck. I usually pay $50 for boots that last a year. Will the $250 red wings last me 5 years?

I've been wearing Redwing Model 402's for about the last 20-25 years. It's a very tough, non-insulated, non-steel toe, made-in-America boot. There is a considerable break-in period before they become comfortable.
I get about three years out of them but I am very hard on boots, residential construction, especially roofing, is tough on boots. I put Gorilla Guard Boot Toe Protectors on all my work boots.
For outside winter work I wear Redwing Model 1411 (replaced with model 1412). They have 600 grams of Thinsulate and a Simpa-Tex waterproof lining. Also a very tough, made-in-USA work boot. My current pair are past five-years-old and are ready to be replaced.
I take good care of my boots, clean and condition them at least monthly.
Eh...wot?

Just bought a new pair of Red Wings last night....I get 18 months out of a pair....before my legs tell me I need a new pair. Iam on concrete 10 hours a day. The old boot looks like new...no stitching missing soles still good....but my 6’2” 260 pounds must take its toll on the construction . I also get the 70.00 insoles.....314.98... my legs are happy again. Been wearing Red Wings for 30 years

What model you get Nessie? I paid around $200.00 at a local Amish-owned saddle shop for my 402's last year.
I get the cheap $30.00 inserts when the Redwing inserts wear out.

Excuse my ignorance but you said a work boot but no safety toe. Isn’t that just a boot? You stated work boot so these are my favorite work boots so far. My last pair is 4years old and I retired them to be backups. I work outdoors all day everyday snow, rain, mud and gravel with the occasional day of working on tar, cement . They’re $280 but I can’t seem to keep cheaper boots going this long, I’m actually money ahead spending more upfront. Made in America, not just assembled in America’s. Roomy square toe box and lots of cushion in the sole. Great boots. Great customer service. https://www.hallssafety.com/products/halls-552w-low-heel-8-waterproof-composite-toe-lineman-boot/
