I shoot nosler 40 grain ballistic tips ontop of 10.5 grains of IMR4227. i could easy use more powder but this is very accurate in my rifle. I use it on red fox. Works great. Bullet doesn't usually exit. Works great for shooting jack rabbits and prairie dogs for bait. I have shot coyotes but I wont shoot very far. Coons and bobcats tip right over also. I think it does a great job of filling the gap between 22LR and my 22- 250.
I never liked pushing the little cartridge as fast as it would go. The load I use wont tear up fox but IMO it doesn't hit hard enough for constant use on coyotes. I just never pushed mine like you do for the reason you wrote. Accuracy. I start pushing mine its about 3 moa at a hundred yards. Slow it down and it will shoot nickels.
