Have a few of these; don't think they are particularly old. They are pretty uniform, suggesting that they were not just hammered out in someone's shop. They look nice in my "man cave" but I have not been able to identify the maker.

Hi Dave, is it a possible Newhouse made originals? Think the #4 1/2 has a similar looking drag??

I guess they could be Newhouse, but I doubt it. These have the look of being pretty modern...but maybe that includes the fact that they were never used?

I beleave a trap dealer named Klinger had them made. He also made a Bear size.
Klinger, from PA. I didnt know him as anything else. Klinger aways showed up at trapper conventions with a 1/2 ton van with 2 ton of supplies in it. Very nice guy. Havent heard anything about him in 10 years or more.

Some PA guys might know where he is and what hes doing now.

Dave: The little flashing white envelope at the top of the page signals that you have a private message waiting. Click on the envelope to access messages.

Or he's trying to buy them cheap before anyone figures out what they are. Lol

Post these in the trap collectors forum if you don't have an answer yet but I think Cohunt already knows. Pretty cool stuff.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Nothing secret in my messaging. Dave Hastings is a noted trapper, author, editor and a friend but has been a member here for less than a month and this is his first posting. I said welcome and suggested that in the future he post his questions about old traps on the collector forum. The reason for my post was that new members often do not recognize the flashing envelope as a signal.

Thanks Newt, I now have a great lead and will get the good answer.

...as to "cohunt" and his note, yup, he was simply coaching the beginner with the purest of motives!! My technology skills "resume" is pretty short, but includes the ability to close down servers in several states. I'm like a monkey on the side of the interstate, watching the funny pretty things fly by...
Truth is, I appreciate any help I can get and that goes for "cohunt" :-)

But (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman).....it does take the fun out of it!

And well, ya, I have a new vocabulary lesson!

My apologies on word choice.

Don't let Dave mislead you, his tech skills far outpass mine. I marvel at how his phone guides us through Chicago every year, going and coming from the college. Welcome aboard bud!

Were Newhouse drags sharpened like the ones in the 1st picture?

I bought a few dozen of those exact drags at a Furtakers National in PA years ago. Thanks Dave for bringing this up as I had forgot the makers name. Real works of art! I have some in 5/16 and some are 3/8. I believe he made some in 1/2” stock also
