I'm hearing rumblings that we may have brokered a peace deal ending the war in Afghanistan?

Anybody else heard anything?

I'd put a clause in the agreement that any more terror attacks by person's trained in Afghanistan will render the agreement null and void and if so the US will come back and kill every living thing within the border... And then spread salt 6 inches deep over the landscape so nothing will ever live there again.

But that's just me.

If it were me I would put in a clause that a single opium poppy field shows up on a satellite image the whole country will be destroyed.

But thats just me.

They'll just grow em somewhere else Danny... Supply and demand. But I believe the Taliban had actually forbid the growing of them when they had control of most of the country. As soon as we moved in and put them on the run the Afghans went right back to growing them.

I guess the salt would put an end to that too. Lol

It will be a deal like Nixon brokered in Viet Nam. The North Vietnamese really kept that deal, didn't they?

I don't think the Taliban leadership has enough control over its own people to broker a truly successful peace, but I do think things will improve in Afghanistan for the US. The Taliban wants total Islamification of Afghanistan. Unless they do what the US wants, in the short term, we will maintain a strong enough presence there that the Taliban will not get what they want.

I wonder why opium farming is tolerated

It wont last. The Afganistan government isnt influential or strong enough to maintain any kind of real control and order.

In 5 years the Taliban will head the government through intimidation anf we'll be back at square one.

Americans never admit defeat... Ask any Southerner, they still don't know the Civil War is over.
ps. One can't lose a war if it isn't over.

"We" will be back at square one? Their problems are not my problems... If they wanna kill each other while racing camels and eating fried dirt, they can knock themselves out.

Now if they wanna make their problems my problems (again) we should use that clause I talked about above.

What would your "Vaunted" Canadian Military do if faced with the same
situation after a Canadian 9/11 event ?

Heck,

You hosers can't even keep a few Indians off the railroad tracks
while you're trying to build pipeline infrastructure through British Columbia.

Don't lecture us while you have Justin Trudeau running the show up there.

ROTFFALMFAO !!!!! laugh

If the taliban takes over they will stop the opium again. The Afghans will spend all their time killing each other. Sounds good to me.

Nixon wouldn't have had to broker that deal if Kennedy & LBJ
hadn't gotten us into that quagmire in the 1st place.

If Barry Goldwater had been elected, He'd have nuked Hanoi,
there'd have been no Vietnam, and you would have had no
chance to badmouth the USA as much as you do now ! frown

What BS. When have I ever bad-mouthed the US?

No, that one is beyond BS. It's a dammed lie.
