I'm not going to pay a guy $17M to talk but I'm fine if somebody else wants too. Nobody is taking that money out of my pocket.
Obviously, his employer is going to make more than $17M of of his talking. And that employer is going to employ lots of other people and feed lots of other families because this guy is on the air. That is the problem I have with the astronomical salary paid to sports figures on and off the field. The money does come out of my pocket and yours. Who do you think pays for the millions of dollars of advertisements. Do you think the company subtracts their ad budget from their profit margin? No! It is passed on to the consumer. Why do you think a loaded pickup sells for 75,000?

If you divide Rush Limbaugh's annual income by 240 days a year it comes out to around $352,083 per episode. And all he does is talk for three hours a day. LOL
I'm happy to live in a country were the sky is the limit! If you want to make millions the only thing keeping you from doing it is yourself.
But for me, family, friends, and health are what makes a man rich. None of which can be bought with money.
ol'dad Exactly, and X2. Do you's know how many modeling contracts I've turned down, I just want the simple life. I want to trap, hunt, fish, and be with people I choose. I am just grateful that I could make millions by allowing them to take pics of me in a speedo dying traps over an open fire. Capitalism is a wonderful thing!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Its amazing how much money I save and my life really hasn't changed.

Why do you think a loaded pickup sells for 75,000? No. Americans are materialistic and need to compete with the Jone's so they pay willingly for that truck . Most people that drive new expensive trucks are not rich and are throwing away their wealth. As long as people will pay and banks will finance, prices won't come down. Nothing to do with advertising and large contracts.

someone just recently signed for 300 mil for ten years, this has been going on for along time because the pro teams are making money.the tv contracts are in the billions.and we pay at least most to watch. everything keeps increasing in price.only way to avoid it I believe is to move off the grid.

tony romo just got 17 million a season to broadcast football, that's 1 million a Sunday, this is just wrong, imo What really should anger you is the owners don't hardly pay much for the stadiums that provide Tony his job. The tax payers flip most the bill for them. Can you say scam.

My observation is that most folks that frequent the Trapperman site consider themselves to be conservative. The meme threads are a great example of how we take pleasure making fun of, and pointing out the absurdity of many liberal policies and beliefs. I have noticed however, that the one liberal hook that many conservatives seem willing to swallow is falling for the old reliable class envy/income inequality argument. Rich folk don't deserve to be rich. Rich people are not paying their "fair share". All those rich folks got rich on the backs of us working people, etc. This whole "stick it to the evil rich" idea is the driving force behind the Sanders campaign, and more folks than ever are buying in to this Socialist philosophy. Back to the issue of overpaid athletes, even if you never watched professional sports in your life, everyone benefits in one way or another from a booming entertainment industry that helps fuel our thriving economy. Gas stations, resturants, bars, hotels all generate and circulate more money and provide more jobs. Companies the build stadiums, gas stations resturants.......all benefit. Agriculture produces the food and beverage, even if it is all Kale and fruity craft beer. The entertainment and luxury industries all generate another level of economic prosperity above and beyond the staple needs of just getting to work, buying your groceries and making mortgage payments. People making lots of money spend lots of money which makes the entire economy better for everyone, from dish washer, auto mechanic, farmer or car salesman. The money they make is not taking away from your earning potential, it is adding to it.
And before I get off my soapbox, folks who engage in a business that produces a luxury item like fur should be the last people to complain about successful people who may actually have the extra money to go out and buy a fur coat or coyote trimmed Canada Goose parka.

What's worse is that they don't pay 17 million to keep Joe Buck from announcing anything! Now this is the movement we should all get behind!!!
