My mother came by today and dropped off a couple pieces of scrimshaw that my grandfather picked up while his time in Alaska in the late 40s early 50s.

Beautiful! Tried it a number of years ago when I was building powder horns. I didn't do too bad of a job but nothing near as nice as these!


Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Thanks guys.

They're very sentimental. That grandfather was the silent type. Just sit at the kitchen table and taking hours to drinking an old style while cussing out the Packers or Cubs. Really had to pry stories out of him.


The metal is low quality but love the handles.

Honestly it reminds me of Russian/Cyrillic cursive so could be completely different.

Just did some research. Nuguruk is accurate. Was a Seattle company that sourced hardware from Germany and used walrus handles.
