I mentioned on a thread a few days ago about a guy I know who may have CV, I was at his house on Saturday for a birthday get together.

The guy is 18, he hangs out with his cousins a lot, his two cousins go to a university in Kirkland WA (same town where the 5 or so CV deaths have been).

The 18 year old developed a cough and fever late last week. His folks called around on Monday planning to get him tested. What they were told is rather reassuring imo. They were told; "do not bring him in (to Hospital), put a face mask on him so he doesn't cough on family members and call us back in a week if he is the same or worse, he'll most likely get better on his own".

Doesn't sound too serious to me unless you are old and stuck in a nursing home bed; a likely way to get pneumonia even without CV.

May I suggest a prize? How about a dozen 120 Belisle body grippers.

Just saw you can get a vaccine for corona virus at Tractor supply. Treats animals/mammals. Bet it work on Chinese and . They probly not even looked to see if it cure in humans . Be too easily fixed and cheaper to cure. Got tospend BILLIONS on stopping something that ain't here. Oh wait the US gubment hauled 3 plane loads of that crap into the country

Second the flu has worldwide community spread, in other words it is every where and yet only 15% to 20% of the population will contract the flu. COVID 19 infection rate has been predicted at possibly 60%. In the UK they are figuring on an 80% infection rate. There has not been community spread except in a very few countries yet and most of them not countrywide.
I don't know where your friend got 40,000 deaths from COVID 19. Last I heard it was less then 4000 but you can't compare that with the flu because it hasn't spread yet. 2% fatality rat is what most are saying. Crunch the numbers and you get 4.2 million deaths in the US.
It's a lot of guess work though so say best case 10% of that you still have 420,000 deaths in the US. A far cry and a lot worse then 500.
Your friend even got the US population wrong. It is somewhat over 3.5 million.

I think I already had it. I was in the Bahamas for a week last month....when I returned home I came down with symptoms that parallel the Corona virus. Took me about a week to shake it. Mrs Brownie had it too.
