That don't surprise me actually surprised don't see more of it.. When they have torments here on the river. Some them Yahoos all zip around like they own everything. I almost got run over on a blind corner last summer. Got to go fast as they can to catch that next winning fish..

Now you know why they have kill, switches. I had an old bass boat and it had one and I used it every time. JMO

The driver was obviously NOT familiar with the area and should have never been going that fast.Had one of my sons out fishing on the river,,saw a boat coming full bore right toward a under water cement wall.Water was 12 feet but the top of the wall was only like 8 inches under.I was flailing my arms trying to get their attention,,but they were to busy being idiots to see me.Told my boy, watch this act.BANG,,took the lower unit off. They were sad,,lol.

At least they had enough sense to be wearing PFD's if nothing else. I make it a rule in my boat when underway at any decent speed PFD's will be worn.

60mph is very fast on the water , to not use the kill switch lanyard at that speed is just dumb.

More idiots on the water every year. How many lower units are there laying on either side of wing dams, eh?

pulled a guy out of the water in a similar situation , it was a tiller boat motor too much for the hull , very poor weight distribution, no kill switch and no dead mans throttle , on a flow-age , waited for the motor to kill when it hit a stump near shore then went and retrieved the boat , minimal damage to prop.

had to move the gas tank and battery from the back to the middle to not be sitting bow up in the air , then ran it carefully back to the dock

Distracted driving and a straight up dummy to not be using a kill switch. I bet you won't have to tell him again.

60mph on water is also no joke , and with that little hull in the water a turn can turn into a slide real fast as they showed

Never understood not wearing a kill switch. Especially when videos of boats doing death circles around an ejected driver are pretty common. Takes seconds to slip on and off if you just have a loop in the cord. Interesting thing though, I was stopped by Alabama Marine Patrol a couple months back. Had the kill switch clipped back onto itself making a loop that I wore on my wrist. Officer stated that since it wasn’t clipped to a article of clothing on my body that it didn’t count as wearing it, and it could “easily” come off during ejection from the boat.

Friend of mine was fishing in PA and found one going in circles with down riggers out no one on board. Search and rescue retrieved the guy wrapped up in a down rigger cable. There is a reason for safety devices and there use sometimes it seems like a freak accident but it has happened before and out comes a safety device. I love the one on some of the new table saws, blade hits flesh grounds out and magnetic device stops the saw blade instantly.

It's referred to as "The Circle Of Death" when that happens. Always have your kill switch in play when moving.

Ws eating lunch on the river bank once fine spring day, when I saw some guy flying up the Mo River at St, Charles, Mo. Hit a wing dike and the motor ripped of and went high in the air, spinning like a pinwheel. Saw somebody else come to the rescue, so I just LMAO.

I learned as a young fella those kill lanyards are there for a reason. I was never thrown out of any boat, but came real close a few times. I keep mine attached to my life jacket which is on me if the big motor is running, or laying in the seat if the big motor is shut off.

The boat in this video went into a slide. probably had the motor to high at that speed. happened to me once or twice. You have to slow her down slowly and get the motor down slowly. To fast with either and and that is what happens.

I have watched it a few times now and still can't figure out why the motor trimmed down by itself. None of my boats ever went down no longer how long it had been raised.

That video has been around for a while. His hydronic steering went out, which is bad when running hard. I run a 250 hp motor on my boat and fish the big rivers with lots of current, which are dangerous enough as is. My son is always with me chasing catfish, and is there in case I get thrown. We take it slow, and a second kill switch stays tied to the controls.
A driver in the river, with panicked passengers, is a death sentence in areas with tugs and barges. I stay prepared!
