Yesterday (Thur 3-5-20) here in SE Nebraska we had some pretty strong winds. I heard some say 50 mph plus. Today I went to work and glanced over to where there USED to be an eagle's nest next to the plant I work in.. It was gone. Wind must of blew it down. The nest kinda looked like the one pictured. This picture is not the nest that fell. I wonder if the pair will rebuild in the same general area? Hope they stick around as they are kinda cool watching..... for now. Maybe someday they'll be a pain. Don't know.

Seen them just move to a better tree if that happens not far away.

I have been watching a pair build and preparing a nest for over a month now. It seems these two, took a long time to get the nest to where it is today. It was a slow but continuous processes to build. I watched them for hours one branch and twig at a time.
I would think they would find a place soon and a rush job would be instore to complete before they lay. I have done some research and here end of March is about the time they lay eggs.

The Cuivre river washed out the tree eagles were nesting in by Troy, Mo. a few years back. They moved upstream a few hundred yards and rebuilt.

A pair I had been watching for a long time had been using a huge nest for many years. A few years ago they abandoned it for no apparent reason and built a new one on the opposite side of the river about 200 yards upstream.
Eh...wot?

Eagles die of old age and sickness like anything else. You did the right thing by calling the CO.

Thanks for all the comments guys..... Years ago there were no eagles in my area, Then in the early 90's they would show up in late winter.... but then move on to somewhere. Around early 2000's they started to show them selves with regularity year round. I work in Beatrice and know of 4 nest around that city... within 10 miles or so. The last couple years the eagles have to have been nesting around my home area as there are adults seen year round and now the last year or so I have seen several young flying all over the place. They are a majestic bird. They represent what we as a nation experience and should be proud of. Great comments again...…. Thanks
