So I finally went to the doctor today as I noticed two weeks ago I was itching like crazy in the center of my back. Well low and behold I had a deer tick stuck to me. No big deal I had been bitten before but two weeks later I still had a rash and the bullseye ring where I was bitten. I don’t t know if it was was my mind playing tricks but I ache all over and have was just feeling awful this week. Went to the doctor and despite having to explain how I might of got bit by a tick in the winter, I am now on antibiotics for what he suspects as either a reaction or Lyme disease. The only thing I can figure is that it was putting up coyotes. Go figure the last one I caught before pulling traps was a little over two weeks ago and I did pull a tick or two off of it. Said the test isn’t real reliable until later on so better safe than sorry. I guess it cost me a couple of rubber coyotes but better safe than sorry. I guess I will be a little more careful next time.

Been so warm this winter that the ticks are out when they should be still in the ground.

I lost our aussie shepherd last spring from lyme disease. It can be some nasty stuff if not diagnosed and treated. Led to kidney failure that finally killed her.

I need to go get tested myself. I pulled one off my arm a few weeks back and it still itches. Going to be a nasty spring methinks...

Morel picking, turkey hunting, and trout fishing will require BUG JUICE for sure...

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

What anti-biotic were you administered ?

Hopefully, It wasn't Cipro.

If It was, check out the side effects,
and get off it as soon as possible.

Cipro can cause worse problems than
lyme disease can.

Ask me how I know.

We had a young, healthy farmer here that had Lyme and was put on Cipro and blew his tendons and could hardly get in a tractor or truck. He died, his daughters are now running the farm.

I've taken Cipro 3 different times for 6 weeks at a stretch for prostatitis and never had any problems with it. On one of those times I was having problems from tick bites and it never did anything to help that. For quick caught Lyme I think Amoxicillin and Doxy are the front line defence. An aggressive approach is needed and few days treatment I would question.

Wow. I took Cipro once for cellulitis and I guess thankfully did not have a problem.
