If you can’t catch 10,000 nightcrawlers every single night from spring till fall, you’re not gonna get the job.

I put on a head lamp and crawl on my hands and knees. That getting up and down is tough. Plenty wet enough now but still too cold.

Used to get em by the scoop shovel full around the grain elevators after a good rain storm.

Hard find them in the wooded leaf litter! I go down to town where pavement. Use long handled upright dust pan & whisk broom W/ l h. Sweep them off pave at day break. Easy standing, no aches. Not patented ...Tut

I can pick a few to fish with in my back yard on right kind of night. Don't fish much with crawlers my self. The wife likes to use a piece crawler for sunfish. She don't fish enough for me to mess around picking crawlers for her so we just buy a dozen when she goes..I find them hard to keep.. Buddy of mine has keeping them little more down to a system. He goes out after heavy rain picks them off the street puts them in dry bedding.. Here we can also buy them from the Amish reasonable price in large quantities..Not sure if they pick them up or dig them?

A big gob in early spring in the river can produce big cats. Plenty of drum carp and buffalo too. I use them for catching sunfish and bullheads mostly for bait though those big chunky bullheads or big green eared sunfish make a nice meal too. In the right conditions a jig trailing a night crawler is a good flathead bait. I just checked my yard. Rained again last night but no worm holes or worms. still to cold here.

I would put my light in a plastic one gallon milk jug. I cut away part of the top but left the handle on.Made for a nice diffused light and I could slide the jug on my belt . Seemed like they started mating after mid night,so you could get 2 at a time. Tom
