Why do people care how much another man is getting paid?
Because it sets the market for everyone else. Looking like it could be a great spring Beaver season in MN, minus the fact it may be hard to find buyers. Sorry man but thats not what I was referring. I'm referring to some guy seemingly beimg but hurt if and how much he sold his coons for and seemed upset that he didnt sell to GFW.

Will be interesting to see how many buyers attend the FH sale with world travel restrictions being expanded daily due to Corvid 19. oil price this low, and heard there is a shortage of rice worldwide.

Don't scrape your hides if you plan on freezing them for any length of time.
If you freeze for any length of time you don't want any raw edges showing. It's better to turn both edges In toward the middle and then roll them up starting from the nose.

That is good advice Beav to refresh some . Rally you are so right ,time will show how that will go for all that is going on and change every day .

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does GFW mean by "due to unprecedented conditions in the wild fur industry"? Does that mean the low fur prices or the coronavirus or what?
I'm a new trapper and have never sold fur to anyone before. The few furs I caught this first season, I'm keeping to have tanned and make them into stuff.

Best way to keep any fur is scraped super clean(grease free), stretched and dried and then in the freezer.A defrosted freezer so if it goes out there wont be any wet in the bottom and you wont lose any fur. Keeping green undried fur in a freezer long term is a gamble.

I'm a new trapper and have never sold fur to anyone before. The few furs I caught this first season, I'm keeping to have tanned and make them into stuff. I'm guessing a combination of both. The prices are as low as they've been in a very long time. And now the Coronavirus has buyers from China and Italy (two of the major buying countries) unable or unwilling to travel here. Add to that the fact that I believe China is no longer importing fur due to the virus.. there's just no good way to move fur right now.

With the fur market the way it is you will be losing more money every month by paying to run the freezer.JMO I believe the reason you store them is because of a bad market in the first place? In the case of Groenwold I suppose he has enough coon and money tied up in them to call it a season. IMO

the price of beaver not worth the electricity it would take to run a freezer. beaver take up way to much freezer room...stretch and dry them (no grease left on them) bag them up with month balls and store them in cool dark place (basement) away from bugs......they will keep better that way with no freezer burn or total loss if freezer quits! if storing several hundred keep your stacks less than 3 feet high or less spread them out alittle.
