I get that the flu kills so many, and we haven't come near as close with the corona virus. I'm curious how many people know someone who was killed by the flu? Lots of people die from it every year apparently, but I don't think I've ever known anyone to die from it. Nobody I've asked knows anyone either. Wonder if it'll be the same with corona.

Our local hardware store has a sign hanging where the mask are usually located. Basically says that there has been an emergency declaration by the federal government and that the government will be getting all the mask currently being produced until they reach the numbers they have set. Until that time, no N95 mask will be available for the public. The "notice" as it's called states which government agency declared the "emergency" and is more official sounding than what I've paraphrased here. That was several days ago that I saw that.

People can pass freely throughout the EU Countrys (Italy) which the UK is no longer part of. The masks are useful for those who are sick. Only sealed respirators would work to keep from inhaling it. The air flows around the gaps on your face where there is less resistance so you still get unfiltered air. Some but not really protected. I'm thinking of self isolation until Beaver Trapping Season ends on April 15th.

I knew a guy who died from H1N1. It was back a few years ago. It was a guy I worked with. He got the flu, ended up in the hospital, and died. I would guess he was about 50 years old.

I've known some older folks who had a problem and went to the hospital where they caught the flu and died.

Just last week one of my cousins was really close to death with the flu. He was in ICU for a couple days and doc told him had he waited any longer, he'd be dead.

He latest numbers I saw put the mortality rate from Coronavirus around 3-4%, while influenza was less than 0.1%.

I work from home, so if it was just me, life goes on as normal. But, I have a 5 year old that goes to school and a wife that works in healthcare.
