Currently reading:

Andrew Jackson his life and times by H.W. Brands
&
The librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe.

I’ll let you know how they finish but so far good reads.

Just finished, again:

We the living by Ayn Rand
&
We were the lucky one by Georgia Hunter.

What is everyone else reading? Always looking for new books to add to the list.

On the fifth volume of Winston Churchill's "The World Crisis" and have the first two of his series of ''The History of the English Speaking Peoples" on deck. Already read the six volumes of his "The Second World War". My conclusions, so far, are, politicians and bureaucrats are the cause of wars, ordinary people are the victims.

I read about a book a week. I read mostly non-fiction but occasionally I read a book of fiction.

Death in the Long Grass-- Peter Capstick
Never Cry Wolf-- Farley Mowat
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas-- Frederick Douglas
Tomorrow We will be killed-- Philip Gourevitch
D-DAY-- Antony Beevor
Scalps and Tomahawks-- Frederick Drimmer
A Life In Secrets-- Sarah Helm
The Handmaid's Tale-- Margaret Atwood
Undaunted Courage-- Stephen Ambrosse
As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me-- Josef M. Bauer
The Silence of the North-Olive Fredrickson-- Ben East
Black Flags, Blue Waters-- Eric Jay Dolin
The Blue Tattoo-- Margot Mifflin
Snowman--John Hornsby in the Barren Lands-- Malcom Waldron
A Narrative of the Life of Mrs. Mary Jemison-- James A. Seaver
Friends Divided John Adams Thomas Jefferson--Gordon S. Wood
Rising Tide-- John M. Barry
This Tender Land-- William Kent Krueger
Empire of the Summer Moon-- S.C. Gwynne
The Girl Who Lived Twice-- David Lagercrantz
The Early American Republic, 1790-1820-- David & Jeanne Heidler
The Fabulous History of the Dismal Swamp-- Charles Royster
The Calamity Papers-- Dale L. Walker
Just Mercy-- Bryan Stevenson
Iron Head-- Mel Ellis
Hunting Charles Manson-- Lis Wiehl
Becoming Teddy Roosevelt-- Andrew Vietze
The Warmth of Other Suns-- Isabel Wilkerson
Dead Wake-- Erik Larson
The War the Women Lived-- Walter Sullivan

The only one I would not recommend is "The Girl Who Lived Twice". Don't bother with it. All the others are certainly worth reading. Right now I am reading Washington's End by Jonathan Horn.

I am interested in what you thought of "We Were the Lucky Ones".

I read for about an hour each night before turning in. I'm currently reading Goodbye To All That by Robert Graves. It's his memoirs about his service in WW I and the horrors he experienced in the trenches.

Eh...wot?

AS TURKEY SEASON WILL BE UPON US SOON HERE, I AM REREADING SOME OF MY "HOW-TO" BOOKS, AND AM READING "THE SULTAN OF SPRING" BY BOB SAILE FOR NOW. HAVE REREAD THE FIRST HALF OF TOM KELLY'S COLLECTION IN THE LAST MONTH AS WELL AS THE HUNTING STORIES IN THE NEAL COST BOOKS. IT ALWAYS WINDS MY CLOCK TO REVISIT THESE OLD MASTERS.

I think you are the one who recommended it. I really enjoyed it. It is amazing how the family was separated and had to overcome so much. Really makes you think about some of the atrocities that humans have endured and have inflicted on others. It still amazes me how so many people were made to believe that things like that were ok and that it seemed to be so easily hidden from the world for a period of time.

As I previously said, I don't read much fiction. But, a few months ago I read "Where the Crawdads Sing", by Delia Owens. I would recommend the book.
