Good job Boco! JP it's your turn, you were going to try this if I recall. Just run out on that ice, it's really the only way to make sure it's safe!!

Cool good job, i have done under ice snareing and trapping in the past. Wanted to do some this year, but ice is out already here in the low country. And beaver jobs are picking up now, so I'll take it.
Let me sugar coat this

I did trap some under ice beaver this winter for the first time. I will make a post about it one day soon. It’s a lot of work and once the snow got deep, I got nervous and pulled the traps. I’m still not a fan of walking near beaver houses.
Cold as ice!

When snared under ice there is a very faint white line.Less than a trap mark-no damage to fur or leather. I'll post another pic once I board them.

Great job Boco!
Nice put up too.
I’ve always been intrigued by under ice beaver snaring, but wouldn’t know how to even do it properly. It doesn’t help that we don’t have ice like that here.
Keep after them

An under ice beaver snare is actually a cable restraint, they dont really pull hard on the snare,it just restrains them alive under the ice until they nod off due to to hypoxia.

great job,i've smelled like one for a month now.will float the river for a week and shut er down.
i could never get the snares through the ice thing to work but baited bodygrips were effective for me.don't get a lot of chances here but i've done some.

I'll probably take a few out in May when the ice goes out. Some years we get a week or two of open water when some of the pelts are OK.They go downhill fast here right after the ice goes out.
