I'm on the lookout for a Coachmen Freelander 20CB. The 19CB will suffice as well... preferably used, since money is always an issue.

My goal is to live in it full-time. If any of y'all have experience with one of these, let me know what you think about em. I want to know the good, bad, and ugly.

...and about RVing in general also, I suppose. Never done it as an adult, though my parents took us across the country in one. Lived like that for about a year from what I remember. I want to learn as much as I can before I hop in. I'm gonna assume my vehicle search will take a while, so I've got lots of time to soak up some knowledge.

smartest thing we did to learn bout RV's was join www.irv2.com where many thousands of folks live full time AND there are forums for each style, like 5th wheels, travel trailers, motorhomes, etc AND the Boondocking forum is for full time off grid folks

We have owned a few RV's and the Irv2 folks have helped us troubleshoot our fridge and a/c problem without having to pay a place $80/hr.

find one kept in a barn or under cover
open ALL cupboards and look for discolored ceiling/walls, where the roof has leaked
if its over 25 yrs old plan on replacing the water/waste tanks since they get brittle over time, and deduct that from the cost
deals can be found on Craigslist and folks yards, have your friends keep a lookout for 1 for sale in someone's yard.
also, large rv dealers usually have used/trade ins for sale too.
don't be afraid to travel out of state to purchase a gem from sr citizen either
ask if it is 3 OR 4 season insulated
ask if it has been winterized yearly--may not need it in your area tho.
slide outs open floor space greatly....we went from 2 in our travel trailer to 3 in our 5th wheel
make sure the awnings open and close properly
see if it has awnings over the slide outs--a bonus

If you gotta live in one , a slide out will make the difference between a smile on your face or wanting to eat a bullet

Yep I need elbow room to function living in a camper would drive me up a wall pretty fast.
