Those poor vegans that need to go to the store for fresh fruits and veggies are going to be the first to whine.

If people run out of food life will get real cheap in a hurry. If you think scared people are crazy wait till you see hungry people that aren't use to it.

Wild game will disappear from most areas amazingly fast if people become hungry.

I have friends and relatives who lived through the Great Depression. They talked about how any common game animal, furbearer and larger songbird was killed on sight for food.

I just dropped off 4 cows at market and they said they are operating day by day at this point. Said there are grumblings about shutting down packing plants. That would be very had.

I say shut the power down in the city's and let the looting and pillaging begin . Kind of like Katrina only on a bigger scale. Good time for the anti gun crowd to contemplate their beliefs

Haven't you heard? Any idiot can be taught to be a farmer.

Doesn't do much good short term if most crops take 45-90+ days before they mature.

I'm a farmer. Got 6" of snow on the ground this morning with frozen ground below. Don't think I can get a seed to grow yet. When there is something to harvest 3-4 months from now, the city folks will kill you for a carrot. Whole mob of big eyed idiots will come out and kill your entire herd of cows, eat part of one and move on. Desperate people do desperate things. Desperate governments do even more desperate things. Vote Trump.

lots of cow calf operations around me. even a couple big ones. things get real bad who can they sell beef too? might barter some. im thinking a job guarding livestock and protecting property, doing manual labor of which there will be a lot, wont be hard to get. more than enough to sustain people.

my crystall ball says people in cities will stay there waiting for rescue. the strong will prey on the weak till they have to leave. wont be a lot of them left. the ones that are left will be the strongest though. rural people will band together for mutual protection. we are used to helping each out time to time anyway.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I remember when I was still in school in the early 1970's that beef prices got so high that rustling was in fact a problem in CA. I recall laughing when I heard it reported that some guys were being charged with "grand theft cow" . True story !

I'm losing faith that there are enough people left with enough common sense.

My understanding there's more cattle rustling going on now than anytime in the past. I know it still goes on around here. And its only getting worse with the drug problem.
