Watching it yesterday. Saw Morgan who is supposedly living with little to nothing for essentials stalking Dall sheep using a high powered spotting scope. How can a guy who's supposedly starving be utilizing an expensive spotting scope? I like the show, but some of it is so absurd!

That's great for him. It still doesn't explain his "hard to believe" exploits.

Why would a man with 1M lead us to believe he had to hike 300 treacherous miles through mountains to claim his land? Wouldn't he just fly with all that money? He wouldn't need to scrounge around for wood to build a cabin, he could afford to have someone build it for him. With that kind of money why lead us to believe he's starving for food? And these are just for starters.

I know it's a reality show, but they could try a little harder to make it believable.

I like several shows similar to that but man the drama is overwhelming.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness

If he's only worth $1 million what did he do with the rest of the money the History Channel has paid him? Must be a big spender.

Those people doing those show aren't poor people, that live eating cat food from from a dollar store. If you believe they are poor old hillbillies you are pretty naive.

It is called acting it's a show for entertainment and many rich live like hermits and the down and out life, that is why they are rich.

I am always astounded that people watch these so-called "reality" shows set in Alaska. In my opinion, they are a joke, and really, not very funny. Is this what Lower-48 folks think life is really
like up there?

^ I agree I have seen a few of them over the years not even sure the names of them. I had to look up who this dude that OP talked about on MM. I have not seen one show of MM myself but I can't agree more with you, on that they are a joke the ones I have seen. It is entertainment, acting a show and what I have seen there is so little that is reality I can't stand to watch them. Shows like that, what I have seen are a joke!

Yeah, Snowy. I don't own a television (shot it about 30 years ago), so the only time I happen to see these "reality" cartoons is when I'm on the road and happen to camp in a motel. Otherwise, I'd have no clue.

Some of the characters on the show aren't so bad and closer to reality such as Ole Tom or Marty in AK. These trappers check empty traps often, Tom explains how he makes certain things from his fur. I like Marty to a point because he shows how he makes his sets for different animals. These guys are a little more interesting than the others.

I prefer The Last Alaskans. Don't think there is to much fake with those folks. I'm sure some of it is embellished, it is a TV show.
