Hi there,
what is the best fully functioning bear trap replica? jim river traps or duke bear trap? the jim river 6 bear trap has very strong feathers. the duke 16 bear trap, however, had very weak feathers. is the duke just a display trap?

Best wishes!

I think the Jim River traps are the best reproduction trap available. The raised letters on the pan make it look “authentic”

If feathers are springs, my son is 250# (at least) and he can hardly depress 1 spring 1/2 way down on the duke 15 I have. Haven't tried to set it yet, the dog notch looks like it would need some file work to me and they don't give much cast iron there to spare, coupled with the low pan it looks sketchy.
