Anyone have any recommendations for a gun safe that holds 24-30 guns? Don’t want to spend a fortune and don’t need any certain fireproofing rating. Really just looking to store them from thieves.

You'll probably have to get at least a 50 gun safe to actually fit 30 guns. Bolt it down good.

What ADC said. Scoped guns take up 2 or 3 spots depending on scope length and mounting height.

Ya I was kinda figuring that. I don’t have 30 guns, yet, but if anyone can point me into a direction of make or model that is a better bang for my buck that would be sweet

Look on the secureit tactical website there cradle grid system rocks

If your just looking at a secure way to lock up access you might look at one of the military or police type gun lockers

Most gun safes sold are just thin sheet metal with drywall for fire protection. They are not true safes just security cabinets. They are easily defeated with simple tools very quickly. The lock on my father's messed up and he had to call a locksmith to open it unless he wanted to cut it and reweld. A jobsite tool box offers thicker steel.

I don't have model to suggest. Just be aware of what you are actually getting.

Heritage Safe Co. Grace, Idaho. They make true safes. Cannot be defeated by a couple guys with crowbars get the combination lock not the electronic model. Mine weighs just under a half ton and is NOT sheet metal. A little over a grand, I don’t remember exact price but seems like 1150 on sale at one of the big box stores Home Depot or Lowe’s. I watched a video showing a couple guys flip a competitors models on its back and with nothing more sophisticated than a couple crow bars pop it open in about forty five seconds. Won’t happen to a heritage. Mine is the Fortress Security model, 24-30 long guns lots of possible configurations for shelves. As posted above bolt it down. They aren’t cheap but then that’s the point isn’t it?

Gage. Inches. Millimeters
First I looked up is 12g steel. 12 .1046 2.656

They may have other offerings. That is thicker than most. Looks like a nice one for sure.

Hate to pee in your wheaties, but that is NOT a true safe any more than the rest of them. A true safe that size would weigh in the tons, not under 1000 pounds and couldnt be had for less than SEVERAL thousand dollars. Do your research, not watch a 2 minute youtube. No disrespect intended, but others should not be led astray by your post. Im glad you are happy with it, and im sure it does its job as intended, but it is definately not a true safe.

My recommendation too, or buy two of them.

Have a big 68 gun cannon safe and a smaller 28 gun oxbow safe ( made by cannon ). Electronic keypad lock on oxbow started messing up. Called cannon and they sent me a new keypad and lock for no charge.

You put it more bluntly but that's why I listed the 12 gage steel and inch and mm thickness. For those that don't quickly recognize sheet metal gage thickness. Lol "it's not sheet metal " yet they list it in gage not 3/8" + with concrete fire protection.

But most people's needs are to feel their guns and valuables are secure for less than 1500$. Many don't know few do the research to learn.
Heck I built a solid concrete 10"×18' gun vault poured concrete roof 1/2" rebar 1' centers at one of my houses. Have around 10k in it worked on it for several years. Almost got it finished then moved. You think a safe is hard to move....

Have not bought a new safe or anything for the farm yet. I know how they are made and see them more as ok for ammo storage or as a decoy to keeps thieves busy. Yet anything would be better than leaning in the closest.

As others have said you get about half the space that’s stated. Picked this one up at Runnings for $750 with the swing out rack and has a 1hr fire rating which is the minimum suggested, if you live in the country. I’m pretty happy with it so far. The swing out rack is nice. You don’t have to pull all your guns out to get the one in the back.
