Get a "Death Ray" from Lee Steinmeyer on this site. It is a catch pole and a dispatch pole in one. Very well made, by a very good guy. Just be sure to order before trapping season.

Do I just search death Ray in the forum search bar? Thanks for quick response! www.lptrapsupply.com is the home of the DR. I'm not sure when they usually start taking orders....I'm needing a fleshing knife. I just use a homemade pvc catch pole.

Just seen this post, and appreciate the kind words, folks. To be honest, For JUST catch pole use, I usually guide people towards a catch all pole. The reason is, the DR is designed for dispatch first and to be able to use for a catch pole, for release, etc. A high quality tool will last you a long time, and both the Catch All and my DR fit that decription, but your use of the product is what is used to decide which one is best for your job.
Bucknuts, consider using a fur bag for transporting live yotes. Use a pole to insert them in a fur bag, tie shut with little room for movement, if your worried about them biting through the bag, tie it to a short pole for over the shoulder carrying! Good luck!

I have a death ray and it is great but i only use it for dispatching cats and fox. For just animal handling purposes building your own from 1" emt conduit 1/4" cable and a clothes line tensioner is the way to go.

Ha ha, Zim,that is a great way to transport live critters! I've brought home a few coyotes that way for the pee pen, and haven't been nawed on yet! Couldn't prove it by lookin at ya. How ya doin, buddy? Tried talkin a guy here in town to get one of your fleshing knives, but he just finished up some 'last year's' beaver with his post knife, and didn't trap this season. I showed him the one I got and told him he could try it out but he never called me. Charlie
