Any recommendations on where to get beaver tails tanned (for wallet making). Question 2, when preparing for sale, they are supposed to be one piece. Is there any reason not to halve them when using yourself? Thanks for any input

Don't ask me. I just made a mess trying to tan one for a friend. There is a narrow band on each side near the end that seems impossible to split. I fleshed right through it in several spots. I did it with the orange bottle stuff, I use that on a lot of pelts. Works for me but my beaver tails skills are poor.......jk

I won't even try and tan them myself, always turns out poorly. I have a friend who does leather work and I want to give them as a gift and want the best quality as possible.

I do 2 pieces for each tail and send them to Specialty leather in Iowa. Turn out nice Thanks, I gave them a call at lunch, very reasonable on price. I'm going to do the rest of the tails in 2 pieces, only makes sense.
