One gal moved here from Idaho and bought 100 acres in there. Another gal moved here from Texas and bought eighty acres. A good friend of mine moved here from Ohio and bought twenty. The rest is owned by ancestors who originally settled the area. We are all mutual friends and have each others backs. All of us have guns.

How high is the cost of that land?

So far, the only negative effect I've noticed is other people freaking out and buying stores dry of items.

Some businesses will be hurt like restaurants so that may eventually trickle down to my business/community.

About a thousand dollars per acre on average, Marty. It depends on if it's tillable ground or forested. Once the loggers go through it can be had for $500 and acre.

Not a big fan of food shelf as I think its abused by some and is needed by others .Why would the need be greater now than a month or two ago .Our local food shelf is the same way .

You could bag the grain up, if you have corn or wheat, take a truckload to the nearest city and sell it as emergency rations. Most people have coffee grinders that will make a small amount of grain into flour.

That's my plan. I'll have a well drilled and probably go for a solar panel or two. I've always wanted to live like that and the dream is slowly becoming a reality.

Need will be greater because of the layoffs, store closings, etc. People bracing for the coming days without income or less income.

You are right, some abuse the food shelf. It really irks me to see someone drive in with a newer Escalade looking for food. Unfortunately, MN is a very liberal state. We used to be able to ask about a person's income. Not any more. If they show up you have to serve them. Can't ask for proof of income.

On the other hand, we have an elderly woman whose sole means of income is SS. She is in her 80s and has a retarded son living with her. There are similar examples of people who exist from day to day for various reasons, some their own making, some just bad luck. I don't care if we get ripped off by some because these really do need it. If you ever volunteered at a food shelf, you would know what I mean. There is no reason for anyone to ever go hungry in the greatest country on earth.

Just a matter of time for this virus to make it's way into my household. You see my wife works in the medical field and has been swabbing and testing patients everyday, So far all in which have been negative. But its a matter of time. She's not worried about though, not freaked out a bit. She loves each and everyone of her patients and is there to give them the best care she can. Her early day was Tuesday. She spent 2 hrs trying to find chicken to cook for supper. That's when it really things really started to set in. However that evening I went to check a set and lord and behold I had a ole Turkey Buzzard by the foot flopping around. I set it free but I couldn't help to pick at her for running around all day and all I did was make a set and could of had her main ingredient laying on the counter fresh from god's country and never told her it was a buzzard. Country boy/gal will survive but the yuppies are going to have a hard time. I wouldn't eat a buzzard unless I was starving in case ya'll are wondering. I'd really have to be hungry.

I was kind of looking forward to collecting my Gold medal for the rindless Swiss class from the World Cheese Championship, but the International Cheese Technology Expo has been canceled for this year.
I suppose that they will send my bling through the mail.
