I need opinions from trappers who have actually put their stretched and dried bobcat pelts in the freezer to hold over until another year. I want any particular's about how you package and prepared them for the best preservation. Due to this virus thing and uncertain markets I have decided to keep my cats until things settle down. Thanks in advance for your input.

You think cold storage might be better or is that the same thing or not as cold? I have one cat I left whole going to get that one tanned for the Taxi market best shot at moving it I’m guessing for me.

I just put a plastic heavy duty trash bag over each end of the cats and lay in the freezer. This is a big chest freezer though. My friend doesn't have a big chest freezer so he just folds in half, puts in a plastic bag, and places in freezer. We have both held on to cats this way for a year and not have any problem.

Do they turn yellow on the skin side in the freezer? The only way I ever held fur over was fresh with the fat left on.

You have to remove the air and shrink wrap them, if you're going to keep them any length of time.
Be careful to re-dry it once removed so that you aren't getting mold from moisture on the skin side

I had a couple once that had been vac sealed in food saver bag .
Opened them up and they were like brand new just needed to be fluffed up a bit.

Just talked to a fur buyer who likely will be saving several hundred just in a pile in a meat locker.
