I have some newer #330 Victor Conibear traps. There is too much loose play in the Trigger wires even before it starts to engage the dog. What would be a good replacement option?

Is it the wire bracket or the dog that's the issue?

You should be able to file the notch a bit deeper in the dog so it's in contact with the trigger and that should fix the problem.

Did ya tune it as instructed in the Basic Sets forum? https://trapperman.com/trapperman/basic_sets.htm

or open the trigger yoke by tapping a punch or nail on both sides of the jaw (photo credit to a t-man member)

No, there is not a problem with the dog. The wires themself are loose within their housing. I would like to up grade to a better system. I don't like circle triggers on my #330's because I prefer to set the trigger to the side to avoid muskrat misfires.

Check out the Terminator Triggers that Paul sells. I like them.

Anyone have a source for just the stainless steel wire? I like to re-use the original wrap around trigger part. I'll buy them from Paul if he will them separate. I like the black coating on his stainless trigger wire. I am not a fan of the 2-piece bolt together part. Too many parts. Not enough hands. (This may well have more to say about me than the parts. smile )

Throw away the Victor triggers and buy Belisle Dogs, and Bullseye Circle triggers.

You won't be sorry.

The flat design of the Belisle dog will make the trap as close
to a complete closure trap as you can get with a Victor trap.

Circle trigger will just about eliminate refusals to enter
and the trap will have a catch every time it fires IMHO.
