Now that China has threatened to stop the flow of Medicine's and medical equipment to the U.S., and accused the United States military of "planting" the Coronavirus in China, will we as a nation stop buying cheaper made goods and return to buy American? let's hear some thought out civil discourse on this. NOT the normal trapperman rambling.

I don't think we can ever stop completely. The Company's that left the U.S. could return but it would take a long time.

Even if it left china it would probably go somewhere else before it came back here.

"WE" can't control what we purchase? Corporations have never controlled my purchasing habits.

We are so accustom to buying junk we don't even consider buying a quality item. A $75 pair of boots 15 years ago cost you $150 now and last 1/2 as long, built with junk materials. My $40 Drake boots lasted 5 years and the spendy boots don't last 6 months now if you use them everyday.

I am old enough to remember when cheap junk came from Japan.Made in Japan was the hallmark of cheap junk back in the 60's. Now we are buying Japanese motorized vehicles because they have surpassed north american standards of engineering and production.People still want good quality. Give the chinaman another 20 years.

I am old enough to remember when cheap junk came from Japan.Made in Japan was the hallmark of cheap junk back in the 60's. Interesting. In my day, " Made In Hong Kong " was the kiss of crape. But, that was northern europe. Different markets. What I'm seeing a Lot of, today, in Europe, is like: " De Walt tools are the Dogs! " Well; Maybe they were. But, now they're made in China. " That doesn't matter! The Chinese will make ye any quality ye like. They'll do what ye pay for! Ye'll Get what ye Pay them to make! " And I'm just like; " Wow! "

China is done, at least the CCP and the state owned businesses. Cheap products from chicoms is a thing of the past. I don't think they even have the capacity to make medicine let alone withhold it from US. 15 million phone accounts in China with no activity, while on lockdown. Think about that lil bit of metadata.

Used to be a BIG tannery in Johnstown N.Y. that bought a lot if not most of the cowhides coming out of the big meat processing plants here in KS OK and TX. Those hides have not been tanned in the U.S. for at least a couple decades. So how are we going to buy American made boots? You can buy boots sewn together here, made with cow hides raised on good KS bluestem grass, but the leather was tanned in China and then sent back.
You can buy a new dodge chevy or ford that was bolted and welded together here in the U.S.
Those big steel mills in Gary, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland? They are not making enough steel to supply the girl scouts with pocket knives. That alternator or engine block? Same thing. All made somewhere else.
Go buy a pair of jeans to wear to work. The cotton was grown in TX sure enough but that big textile mill in Ravens Gap Georgia? Gone. The cotton gets loaded into a metal cargo container then guess what? Yep put on a ship to get turned into cloth and blue jeans then sent back.
You can go to Red Wing MN and the old boot factory is still there. So are the offices of the red wing boot company. You remember red wing boots? You paid a good chunk of hard earned money for them, but it was years of hard use before you needed another pair. You can still buy "red wing" boots. They have a made in China stamp now and instead of years of hard use you get months. Price is still high though so there is that at least.
I voted for Trump because he was the only politician I had heard talk about that and how it needed to change. McCain, Romney, Bush, Obama, were all happy with Bill Clintons dream to cease all manufacturing in The U.S.
It took 30 years to get as helpless as we are presently and I expect it will take that long to come all the way back. We as voters need to to refuse to vote for politicians who are not determined to see us as capable of being independent again. Our goal needs to be a nation of exporters again. Not just raw ag material's like cotton, soybeans and beef hides, but finished goods made here in the U.S.

Lets keep voting for politicians who want that to continue. The Clintons have done great harm to our country. Not alone either. A lot of Romneys out there also.

We trusted the politicians years ago when they said sending our jobs overseas was the thing to do as crazy as it sounded even back then, as a result they got rich and we got the junk after that the same with our meds and meat products not labeled from the US. That is how you become a millionaire on a salary of less the $200,000 a year.
