Thinking about buying a new reel. What do you think is
best reel for the money. Type of reel doesn’t matter.
Thanks

That's like asking which gun should I buy. For good recommendations you need to tell us what you're going to use it for (and don't say fishing!)

Big difference between the best saltwater reel and best panfish ice reel.

Are we talking spinning reel, bait casting real, or real for a fly rod.

If you're looking for a great open face spinning feel, look to the Quick line. I don't believe but are available on eBay. The early ones were made in Germany and are great reels. The 110 (hard to find) is a wonderful ultralight reel, the 330 is a great all around reel.

Other may chime in on this, but IMO the current line of fishing reels cannot hold a candle to the early reels from the '50-'60's. The Penn reels were terrific. Extra pawls enclosed in s capped port on the reel side. I believe that many are made and shipped completed from China. I'm not sure on the Swedish ABU reels, but the ABU Garcia reels were great.

You CAN still buy a great reel, but it will cost you. Check out some of the vintage reels on eBay or other sites. Great reels at bargain prices, compared to current prices for current quality reels.

Tight lines!

Looking for good all around freshwater reel. Not looking to catch a fifty pound cat just bass and under. Casting or spinning doesn’t matter. Have been using shamano spirex for years but seems shimano quality has slipped lately. Was thinking of a revo or a pflueger but have no experience with either. Thanks

Pflueger president reels are the best bang for the buck. As far as number sold/returned they were #1.

I’m a fan of lews baitcasters... I’ve had good luck with the $50 one, seems to be just as good as the $140 ones after 2 years of use
