Talked to one of the vets the other day...he toured Vietnam...and in a low almost depressed voice, he said “I ain’t got much and other than the wife not much to live for these days...if one of these idiots wants to try to take her me or any of my junk all they will find is god”. I wasn’t real sure how to react to his statement so I just nodded. I get it though, I can’t imagine what he’s been through. Happy to be near him though...

the most dangerous man in the world is the one who has nothing left to loose or live for , your guy is a close runner up. he only sounds like 2 things to live for and if someone tries and take one well he will have even less.

I do worry about him.. we met when we moved in. I think he’s in his early 70s. We have bonded a bit since becoming neighbors. He hasn’t really done anything indicating he’s unstable...but has said a few things. It’s nice to listen to him otherwise..he’s a smart fella.

I wasn't saying he was unstable or that you should worry they can make great neighbors , I know a few vets , one is all about his dogs I wonder if he has much to live for besides the dogs I wouldn't want to find out.

I would print that on one of the pieces of plywood and post it outside.

I would seriously think twice about trying to rob/invade that house for sure.

Cats ...... 7 of the buggers. One of them is the reason that the TP is in the safe now. [Linked Image]

Gotcha Greenpeet, I tend to over think, overwrite, over react...you get the idea. I also agree on not wanting to find out.
As for his quote on a sign....I think I’d steer clear too. Speaking of signs. Anyone know about the signs “they” spray on houses and buildings after say a natural disaster? Like how to read them? I think I’m referring to military/police/rescue..

Moved the family out of the city of Green Bay to a quieter community just to the north last summer. Got sick of seeing cops across the street and reading about drive-by shootings and sex offenders in the neighborhood. Doesn't mean I feel 100% safe where we're at though. It doesn't hurt to be prepared.

I've learned over the last month that I'm no good at predicting what might happen with this pandemic, so I'm trying to be more prepared.

I've met a few Nam Vets, my father being one. One shared more than enough. Those are the guys WE look after these days! (and of course ALL WWII vets! One being a close friend! No question what I'd do for that man!)

Best advice I was given was: situational awareness. Look ahead of where you're going.

You might want to consider over penetration if discharging a firearm in your house you need to know where others will be at all times, have a plan. A shotgun at 5 feet preforms way different then it will at 15 yards.

The best thing to do is put up a bunch of them Feel the Burn signs in your yard and a great big gun free zone on the front door. Don't want the would be intruder to be on alert as they break in. If they feel safe as they break in, it may just give you a few extra seconds to do what needs done. wink Although some of you fellas that live in a state with no baiting restrictions may not be able to do this. laugh

My shop has no windows, there is a door for hank, he's a very hungry looking boxer bull dog. There's a loaded gun in hand reach at all times. For everybody that lives here.

Funny you should say that Andrew. I was thinking about scattering a few bits of TP around but here in TN we can't hunt over bait

1) If you have an attached garage and an automatic garage door opener, then you need to manually lock the walk thru door to the house. Thieves have replicates to open your overhead door.

2) Don't just have guns, stage them and train family members how to use them.

3) If you are rural and have a long driveway, then consider putting in a welcome sign. Mine says "You are within range at this point"

cool

Got a Mod.94 next to my armchair as I type and an AR 15 with a light on it behind me . All in the interest of social distancing.
