What's a good resource to learn about raising meat rabbits? The boys are scheming about becoming meat rabbit tycoons (think of all the nerf guns we could buy!!!!) after seeing baby bunnies at the local tractor supply store. We've been doing some learning already, andgot a lead on some rex rabbits that would be available in may, but need to learn more. It'd be their homeschool theme for a while....business, math, reading/writing, biology, animal care, organization, etc etc. Looking for books mostly.

There are some good YouTube videos about meat rabbits. I started raising some last summer and that’s where I got most of my information. Yup good old YouTube is a wealth of knowledge.

I buy about 6 to 8 tons of rabbits a year. Besides selling rabbits to kids doing 4H and small breed rabbits to the pet trade, there is very little profit in raising rabbits, for the amount of work involved. I am not saying that it won't be a good experience for the kids, just that selling meat rabbits to a large buyer or processor is not very profitable.
Selling processed rabbits to consumers is only profitable, on small numbers, in states where you are allowed to butcher and sell the rabbits yourself. Processing fees in states where the rabbits have to be inspected, kill most profit.

We ate a lot of rabbit aka chicken to the girls. When family started on a survival farm circa 1970. Raised grey chinchilla meater's , 2 does, 1 service buck rotated out bloodline wise . Was a good gig . very good meat. There used to be some books out , but maybe hard to find now. " Creep Before You Walk"!!!!! Tut

Of all the properties i have caught coyotes from i could just go kill more rabbits from that land than i could ever raise. Then your not catching enough coyotes.
