I can’t find Swiss chard this year. Will have to start some from seed.

Wife makes creamed chard and it is one of my favorites, after collards and turnip salad.

You are going to have enough squash to feed 25 people.

Two gardens here. One 10 miles from the lake and lighter soil so I can usually get started with cooler loving crops the last week of April if it is dry enough to work. The other one with silt clay loam 2 miles from the lake is a good 2-3 weeks later. I have never mastered starting my own plants. I have not figured out the lighting system and thus plants just never seemed healthy and sturdy.

Bryce, I've used two double florescent shop lights the last three years. You can build a stand to hold them real easy. I have broccoli growing now, I will put in the garden in a week, if the forecast is favorable. Tomatoes that will be planted in May. Use a full spectrum light bulb ether one that's marked T8 or T12 they are pretty common. Keep the light a inch or two above the plants. It opens up a whole lot more vireties that you can plant compared to what's available commercially. But once you order seed from a catalog you will be bombarded with them.

As teepee said,I use a stand with 2 4foot shop lights hanging and raise them as needed to just clear the plants. My peppers just started to show yesterday, and I will put tomatoe seeds in on April 15. Still snow on the ground here and 6 weeks is just about right for the tomatoes. Everything else I direct plant in the garden.

So when the garden starts to mature you better be guarding It with your guns. People with out funds for food are going to harvest your goods If your not careful.

We have had 7 new younger couples buy homes in our little burg of about 40 homes the last 1-2 years. The older couples have all moved into condos and everyone of those older residents had gardens from small to pretty large. Only one of the 7 have gardens now. They all seeded down the gardens, so I am not too worried about people coming out to my gardens to steal food. Many would not know what to do with the raw food. Most probably would not even recognize which was or was not food.

Which tomato did you get?
Just curious, that’s a bunch.
What type of fertilizer do you use?
