Well after our pastor does his morning face book sermon due to the virus, the starlings that tore my house finchs' newly made nest out will be going to the promise land. My Dad's old 36" long tom will see its first action in over 50 years.

When was a kid my parents had what we called the garbage pit. Guess really was compose pit by today's standards and was usually dug on edge of moms main garden.. So the starlings would sit in the one elm tree and take turns trading back forth to garbage pit. Was really busy in winter..From my bedroom window I could stick the barrel of the 22 or airgun out and smack them.. Like HayDay said them buggers got smart quick..Got to a point where If I even moved the window open they flush. When weather was decent enough I'd sometime leave it just a crack open. Was rare though after a while to get them to come back on the same day after I popped the first one. Got smart quick.

They make a Martin house that is easily habitational for Martins, but not accessible to starlings. I know because I had the same problem. Not anymore since I got the new house.
Starlings are one of the few birds even the Audubon Society admits they struggle to find anything appreciable about them.

Mac No doubt about it, they get smart real quick.

No different than the idiots who introduced carp to this country. I hate it when people try to play God.
