For all that is stated will work for you. You choose where you want them to go and then go from there. As long a area show sign that there is beaver around the area ,then it will work for you on what you ask,

The Achilles’ heal of beavers that aren’t educated is their response to castor, in my opinion.
You can make the set nearly anywhere, but, when possible, I take the wind direction in mind. If a cool snap has come or is expected (North wind), I’ll try to set on the north side so that the wind will be blowing the scent across the water. When were in a rain forecast, South winds are expected for several days. If the location stands out, wind direction is less important. Also, I like to make the set visible by slicking the bank up well.
Never, ever pass up blind set opportunities. If you can find their runs, blind sets are a piece of cake. When available, blind sets are king imo
Good luck

Any castor type set works well anywhere beaver are using.Spring right after ice out is the best time to use castor type sets although they work any time you have open water. In spring certain locations like where a creek enters a river or a stream enters a creek, creeks or streams between chains of lakes etc should be set heavily with multiple sets. These spots will often produce beaver every night for a couple weeks after ice out. In spring after ice out, look for any place with a few freshly peeled twigs floating in water or just on shore. These are good places for castor sets.

Thanks to all who replied. Took a while but was finally able to get 3 sets out today. I used Backbreaker for 2 sets and locklears lure for the other. I also found 2 entrances to a lodge made against the bank in a small pond. Blocked them with 330s. Looking forward to tomorrows check.

I dont mean to hijack the thread but if i make a "castor mound" without castor will they still be attracted? i have some polar bud oil is there a set i can make with that? Yes and yes a castor mount with polar bud oil.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I make mock castor sets on there slides . I sometimes put 2 snares on them. I have had great luck doing that. If I am in a area I wont get my 330s stoled I use them. Wife got me a dz no bs beaver traps for birthday. I will put them go use next season on drowning rods. I like to use Backbreaker, timber, big pile, (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) a dam, lures on castor sets. They work good I made castor sets when where I seen good sign and caught them. On trap shy beaver on mounds sets I use bounty beaver and wood chipper. I am going to order flat tail gold and sweet water flat tail dead man hand for next season. I love snaring beavers skinning is the hard part. Show us some beaver pictures. Good luck.

Notice the back foot catch on my beaver. If that was a coil spring trap, that beaver would have been toe caught and might not have been there
