I drove into bedroom town to fill a couple of big gas cans I bought and to pick up some more cheap flashlights and batteries-- can never have enough of those in my opinion. I stopped by a Dollar General store to pick up the flashlights and batteries. A young guy was at the checkout counter. I think generally he's a good kid but I've heard him complaining about his job on a couple of occasions, I think he comes into bedroom town from big city to work and one night he was complaining he still had to get to work even when his old car had broken down.

Anyway, today, after we had gotten done with my sale, I thanked him "for keeping the store open"
Him: "Don't have much choice."
Me: "Well, thank you anyway, we appreciate it."
Him" "I guess that depends on who you are."
And I walked out the door.

I guess maybe there are some factory workers making essential daily supplies, transportation people moving them, and retail people selling them that either don't like their jobs or think they are at a higher risk of the v than everybody else who are mostly at home. Maybe they don't realize they are "heroes" too, maybe at a different level than the health care people treating sick people and facing those risks, but without our daily supplies, our societal situation would get real sketchy, real quick. So, I will continue to thank retail workers, even if they don't want me to do so.

The backbone of America. He is probably too young to realize the importance of what he is doing. I know for sure I appreciate seeing open on places. I too as do many really mean it when I say thank you to them.
